Letter from President
Each day, our communities cry out for access to safe, effective and sustainable health
care. Integrated traditional medicine is the answer to the universal need to improve the
health of our communities, while honoring the individuals and the cultures within those
communities. Through continued exploration and ongoing integration of ancient and
modern medical knowledge, we are committed to our expanding mission to provide
sustainable and effective community health care through our teaching clinics and
collaborative community partners. In this way, as the Traditional Chinese Medical
College of Hawai'i grows, we improve health care resources for our Big Island residents
and visitors.
Located in the costal bay town of Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii at the foot of Mauna
Kea, our College offers a perfect backdrop for indoor and outdoor learning, where
master healers of the future are trained in traditional and modern holistic healing arts. The strong elemental qi of the Big Island, with its active volcano and rhythms of ancient
culture and knowledge, still offers a chance to be in balance with the movement of the
moon and stars, the wind and the sea, the plants and the trees. In these modern times, Hawaii continues to call people looking to live in balance in this ancient way, exploring
healthy sustainable lifestyles essential for survival of all culture.
Our curriculum includes Asian, Holistic and Western Medicine and seeks to teach
mastery of integrated health through collaborative health care models. Our faculty members are experienced, dedicated and share a great diversity of wisdom. Our
current program leads to a Master's Degree in Oriental Medicine (MSOM).
We invite you to become a part of the growing network of bare foot doctors, clinical
specialists and healers who live, study and work here. Walk in the footsteps of the
masters. Listen to your heart. If you are ready for a true challenge, a personal and
professional voyage and transformation leading to new insights and skills to help heal
our local and global communities, we are here to welcome you to this challenging but
fulfilling path
Jacqueline Hahn, N.D.
