Letter from President
As the world faces endless cycles of challenge and change, the Traditional Chinese Medical College of Hawaii offers a high quality accredited, four-year Master of Science program for students seeking a challenging and often life changing career path. This program is steeped in ancient wisdom and traditions, coupled with modern, holistic perspectives and methods. While this rich and rewarding path requires a serious commitment and investment, it may provide more of the very tools needed by those of us who are so called by the world in these sacred but troubled times.
We are evolving and outgrowing our campus in the town of Waimea on the Big Island of Hawaii, where our school was founded. At 2,600 feet above sea level, surrounded by fertile farmland, we have sat at the foot of Mauna Kea, considered a sacred mountain by many, for 2 decades. We now are expanding (Fall 2010) and moving our main campus to the tropical harbor town of Hilo. The entire Big Island is known for its strong elemental Qi, with a long history of being home to a great diversity of healing practitioners and traditions. This is a perfect backdrop for the clear focus and necessary dedication to our rigorous professional training program in Oriental Medicine. This move strengthens our mission to serve a greater population in need of affordable health care as well as expands professional and educational opportunities in our community.
We continue to operate our long standing community TCM teaching clinic and retain several classrooms and offices at our Waimea campus, with plans to expand community health services further as our student intern numbers grow. Currently, we provide clinical services in multiple locations on the Big Island to help meet the needs of our culturally diverse populations.
We are a small, non-profit organization, blessed with a dedicated, creative, passionate and well traveled staff, with diverse professional and educational backgrounds. We are continually exploring sustainable visions that better serve our educational as well as our community health missions. Our coursework and clinical training programs are evolving to expand the art and practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine in ways that effect healing on personal, local and global levels.
We welcome interested and motivated students to join us in our dedication to this growing mission as the world asks us all to find a way to make a difference.
Jacqueline Hahn, N.D. President of TCMCH
